Dedicated to providing a friendly and nurturing environment that is relaxed yet professional. We work to transfer the latest research into functional practice. The primary goal is to support the development of a child in such a manner that he or she discovers the joy of learning and communicating.
Susan E. Stewart, M.S., has twenty eight years experience, working at Seattle Children’s Hospital, school districts and now private practice for 17 years. She is dedicated to providing a friendly and nurturing environment that is relaxed yet professional. She works to transfer the latest research into functional practice. The primary goal is to help the child discover the joy of learning and communicating. Susan works with children with ASD, speech sound disorders (phonology and motor planning or CAS), articulation, reading/literacy and language learning issues. Susan completed her Fellowship training for DIR (Developmental, Individual Difference & Relationships Based) through Profectum. Susan has completed and is certified in the Hanen training for It Takes Two to Talk. She is knowledgeable in multiple intervention approaches across social-communication, language learning, speech sound disorders and literacy.
Kelley F. Flood, M.S., has fifteen years experience in the private practice setting working with children with a variety of speech and language challenges. Kelley completed and is certified in the Hanen "It Takes Two to Talk" training. She is Level II PROMPT trained and experienced in SCERTS and Social Thinking. Ms. Flood specializes in ASD and motor speech disorders, and sees children aged 18-months to 18-years-old. Her approach is to combine evidence-based practices into functional, social, communication goals for her clients.
Devin Arceo, M.S., joined our clinic in 2017 as an employee of Susan Stewart. Everyone is pleased with her work ethic and constant drive to learn. Devin works with children with a variety of speech and language delays as well as ASD. She works with children who present with challenges in the area of social- emotional regulation/communication. Devin also enjoys working with children with voice and resonance disorders.
Calina Van Pelt, M.S., Calina has moved all the way to Australia! We miss her but know that she is fulfilling a dream.
Nancy Rutter, M.S., Nancy has retired from our clinic. We feel the loss and hope to one day entice her back into the fold. Until then, we wish her joy in her partial retirment!
Research in the field of child development shows us that knowledge and learning are stronger when the context and purpose are known to the child. The more choice a child has in what is being learned, the more intrinsically motivated the learning. Given this, we pair developmental models with each child's own set of strengths that avoids a pre-fabricated set of objectives.
